It’s Christmas time, and a lot of Americans are struggling with elderly relatives living remote from them. Around 5 to 7 million Americans provide long-distance care for senior relatives. That is a number that’s growing as families become more spread out. Younger people chase jobs, while senior citizens often refuse to leave their communities. Many primary caregivers live an hour or more away from their elderly relatives. About 15% of families with elderly members find themselves in this situation.
For that reason, we wanted to pass along a helpful guide we were sent by retired architect Kent Elliot that includes advice and links to resources to assist in this situation. It’s a PDF available for download and sharing, including recommendations for how to get more support. We hope it is helpful.
