As we noted in this article, How to Fight for Life in the Post-Roe World, the fight for unborn life is far, far from over in the US. While some states have been fortunate to effectively ban abortion, most have not. In too many states, even effective regulation of abortion remains an unobtainable goal. The overall moral and political situation in the US is simply anti-life. Even in some Deep Red States, abortion bans and significant regulations have failed in the legislatures and/or at the ballot box. While continuing the legal fight is important, clearly we need to attack this evil on a broad, grassroots front.
To that end, we are passing along this message below from an Orthodox Pro-life organization. They are trying to raise funds for an Orthodox maternity house to assist women who would otherwise be at risk of aborting their children. Dr. Irene Polidoulis wrote about one such house near Toronto named Rosalie Hall in her excellent article Mitigating Abortion in a Fallen World – #onebabyatatime.
Please consider supporting this worthy endeavor. Perhaps you could help create a home just like this in your area? Can you imagine what a whole network of Orthodox maternity houses could do to save the lives of vulnerable babies?

Happy New Year, Dear Friends!
Almost 9 months ago Orthodox Christians Pro-Life announced that we are looking for possibilities to open an Orthodox maternity house in the U.S.:
Since the only Orthodox maternity house in the US—Sts. Martha and Mary in Chicago—no longer accepts the pregnant to live in the house, St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Pro-Life Society is looking for possibilities to open an Orthodox maternity house in New York.
What does it mean for you that there is no safe haven for the pregnant operated by the Orthodox Church? Partially this problem is solved by a few pregnancy resource centers, which offer help with accommodation. But wouldn’t it be better to see these resource centers referring women to our Orthodox House of Mercy?
To make it real we need an apartment or better a house, and funds to keep it effectively working, including 24/7 staff on site. Depending on type of premises and location, budget may be larger or smaller, but if you’d like to contribute, please do it right away or contact us to discuss the details.
If we have such maternity house open, then a chapel or even a home church could be open in it, where our wards can attend a liturgy and other services.
