Note: We’ve added another letter below from The Reverend Deacon John Grigaitis concerning Orthodox prophecies about the vaccines (Don’t take them!) These prophecies support concerns that the vaccine mandates could be the prelude to the Mark of the Beast. In addition, the letter makes it clear that demons have been talking to holy elders about the vaccines. Demons have said they use the jabs to enter the bodies of humans. See the new document below. We have also published new answers to the HR questions by combining successful answers from many health care and other workers. Vist the HR questions page here. Also, we highly recommend this page on vaccine exemptions on the Liberty Council site. There is a page to ask for legal help if you are suffering religious discrimination, and a page there to give you advice on what to do if you are denied. Update: 11/23/2021
In the post below, we outline three major arguments for religious exemptions that can all work together – 1) Abortion and aborted fetal cells usage are abhorrent to Orthodox Christians 2) Orthodox Saints have commanded us to avoid these vaccines and as their spiritual children we must obey 3) We have been given free will by God which is sacred, and cannot be overridden by any mandate that violates our conscience.
Note on a Major Update to This Article: This article was updated to add two new sections at the bottom. These are two new, additional arguments for religious exemptions. They can be argued together with opposition to abortion and aborted fetal cells. The first is obedience to Saints of the Church that warned Orthodox to not take the current vaccines. This is supported by a copy of a clerical letter. Click here to skip down to it. The second new argument is based on free will and freedom of conscience. The recent announcement from the RC on military freedom of conscience, coupled with a tremendous argument from the Orthodox side that we published on this site, makes free will / freedom of conscience a compelling stand-alone or additional argument. Click here to skip down to the section on Free Will. Update 10/14/2021.
Note: Please see the bottom of this article for important updates and new exemption templates. As more information and templates are available to us, we will continue to update this article. Latest update 9/7/2021.
Note: Please see this article for a compendium of resources on the true health effects of the vaccines. Multiple videos and links to important information proving the vaccines are not safe, not effective, and are especially not for children. Update 9/15/2021.
Note: We have added a link below to a statement against the vaccines and against vaccine mandates by Bishop Siluan of Bishop of the Metropolitante of Australia and New Zealand of
The Serbian Orthodox Church. In his letter, he specifically directs the faithful to rely on his words as support for the Orthodox position. We have also added a link to a letter from Bishop George of Canberra Auxiliary Bishop Australia-New Zealand Diocese Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia who also rejects vaccines with ties to abortion. Update 9/16/2021.
Note: Concern over the Greek Archdiocese claiming no religious exemption exists has troubled many. We have published two responses to the egregious assault on God-given free will as represented by such mandates. These mandates are an assault on our religious freedom, and any support of them is heretical and anti-Orthodox. COVID Vaccine Mandates: Is Elpidophoros on the Wrong Side of Patristic Tradition? and Orthodox Resistance to Vaccine Mandates: Men Have Become Wolves to Men Update 9/21/2021.
Note: If you are getting challenges, or think you might get challenges, over the previous use of products / medicines that were developed or tested using aborted fetal cell lines, then you need to read this article from an Orthodox physician. She is spot on with advice on how to handle anyone trying to convince you that this is a “small” ethical question. The truth is that we have been consistently lied to and mislead about the use of aborted fetal cells by products and medicines. Even prescribing physicians did not know how widespread their use was. Simply being tricked before into an ethical lapse does NOT justify being coerced into a COVID vaccine against your will and ethical judgment. Update 10/6/2021.
Note: If you have submitted your request and gotten questions from HR, please read this article on strategies for handling them. Update 10/11/2021.
Note: A reader brought our attention to Lawyer Jeff Childers who gives excellent general information on religious exemptions at his website coffeeandcovid.com Here is a sample of some of his advice from his October 11, 2021 email/post.
“Let me be clear about something. There’s no such thing as a “religious exemption REQUEST.” You don’t have to REQUEST it. It’s the LAW. They have to accommodate your religious or moral beliefs. It’s the employer’s burden, not yours. All you have to do is NOTIFY THEM of your sincerely-held religious or moral beliefs. Stop thinking you have to beg for it.”
When writing to or talking with your employer (from his September 8, 2021 email/post):
“— Do NOT try to be an armchair theologian. It is enough if you prayed about it and determined that God doesn’t want you to take the safe and effective vaccines. You don’t have to prove your encyclopedic biblical knowledge.”
“— Don’t engage in theological debates with anyone. Agree to disagree. THEIR beliefs are irrelevant. It’s YOUR beliefs that matter.”
Update 10/18/2021.
For many Orthodox Christians, the COVID vaccines present moral problems. All of them made some use of aborted fetal cells at some stage(s) of testing, development, production, and design. An Orthodox MD provided a handy chart to illustrate this:
Known Role of Aborted Fetal Cell Lines in Some Covid-19 Vaccines
Orthodox Christians are pro-life. Any connection to the use of aborted fetal cell lines is morally troubling for many. In addition, the mRNA technologies involve an alteration of Human Substance/Ontology at the cellular level. For many Orthodox Christians, this is an immoral change to our humanity.
Despite these two important facts, many Orthodox Christians have indicated to us that their priests are unwilling to support their requests for religious exemptions. A segment of Orthodox priests and bishops believe the vaccines are morally acceptable. There are multiple reasons for that, including:
- Misunderstanding the facts. Several bishops have indicated that aborted fetal lines were only used in confirmatory testing. That is not the case, as the chart above makes clear. Even in the case of Pfizer, we cannot be sure that aborted fetal cells were only used in testing.
- The age of the fetal cell lines is cited by some Orthodox leaders. The aborted fetal lines date back to the 1960’s and have been cultured in the lab for decades. Therefore, some Orthodox clergy have concluded that they are acceptable to use.
- The good outweighs the bad. While some clergy acknowledge that a connection to aborted fetal cells is morally troubling, the lives saved from the vaccines outweigh the concerns in their opinion.
- Many clergy simply don’t want to get involved and be criticized as “anti-science” or run the risk of stirring up division in their parishes. If they support religious exemptions, they could be seen as implicitly condemning the choices made by their vaccinated parishioners. Or even their own decisions to be vaccinated.
While this situation is frustrating, it is not really a barrier to requesting a religious exemption. You do not need clergy support for a religious exemption to the Covid vaccines. What matters is your deeply held, sincere interpretation of your religious beliefs. This is from the Petrie Flom Center at Harvard Law:
Additionally, states cannot refuse an exemption to those whose interpretation differs from their religion’s doctrine regarding vaccination. It’s not the state job to enforce a religion’s rules on its believers, the state is tasked simply with assessing whether the religious objection is sincere. This too makes sense, but again, makes it harder to challenge religious exemption claims by members of religions that support vaccines. Assessing sincerity is tricky grounds.
Let me repeat – you do not need a note from your bishop or your priest to support a request for a religious exemption. The beliefs of our clergy are not the issue in such a request. Your religious beliefs are. As you might imagine, Harvard Law is not noted for its support of religious freedom. Yet, even Harvard has had to acknowledge that state governments cannot be empowered to interpret religious rules. Secular bureaucrats are simply not up to the challenge.
Neither is your company’s HR Department.
An Orthodox poster has done a tremendous of accumulating a substantial amount of proof that the Covid vaccines are immoral for Orthodox Christians. The links to his documents are at the bottom of this article. I strongly suggest you download them and use his research as the basis of your request.
Here are some additional suggestions:
- State multiple times in your exemption request that you have a sincere, deeply held religious objection to these vaccines. Make that very, very clear.
- Use the research provided in the documents, plus any additional research, to submit a lengthy request. A short request, even if it were from a priest / pastor, is more likely to be challenged. Make your case in a detailed manner. The more supporting research, the better.
- The person reading your request doesn’t have to subscribe to your religious beliefs. In fact, to him / her, they could be completely incomprehensible. The secular world doesn’t understand Orthodoxy very well. But whoever is reviewing your request needs to believe that you sincerely believe what you are saying. Sometimes, as Orthodox Christians, we are reticent to talk about our faith as we might seem “proud.” This is not the time for humility. Be direct in your verbiage as to why these vaccines are repugnant to you as a committed Orthodox Christian. Your faith is of utmost importance to you. Everyone reading your request has to come away understanding that fact.
- There is going to be a lot of concern that religious exemptions will be used to “game the system.” This is from the previously cited Harvard Law article, “In fact, given the amount of misinformation about vaccine safety and the virus, chances are that most of the exemption requests are from people who do not want to get COVID-19 vaccines because of safety concerns or misinformation about the pandemic.” In your request, do not mention concerns over potential side effects, lack of FDA approval, or lack of efficacy. You may very well have other concerns besides your moral objections. However, if you put those concerns into your request, then it will only muddy the waters and increase the likelihood that your request will be challenged. It is enough to reject these vaccines because they are offensive to God. No other reasons are necessary for those of us who care about our immortal souls.
- Do not merely copy / paste the information contained in the documents below. The documents have been emailed, downloaded, and reposted hundreds of thousands of times. These are guides. Make the information your own. These are your deeply held beliefs. Take the time and effort to make your case for why Holy Orthodoxy rejects these vaccines.
- Lastly, if you are challenged on the merits of your exemption request – continue to repeat that you have sincere, deeply held religious objections to these vaccines. Know the facts of your beliefs as you have presented them in your exemption request. Stick to the points you have already made in writing. Do not debate the merits of these vaccines in terms of safety or efficacy. You have no opinion on those topics. Do not discuss vaccines in general. Do not get into a debate over what the Pope or the Ecumenical Patriarch or anyone else has said about these vaccines. Your beliefs are the issue here, not anyone else’s. Do not answer hypothetical questions such as, “Would this be okay if the vaccine saved your child’s life?” If you feel that your rights are being infringed, be prepared to seek legal counsel.
May the Holy Theotokos save us.
Word Documents and PDF versions of the religious exemption documents below:
1. Compilation of Synodal Statements, Medical Studies, Professional Dissertations, and Hierarchical and Monastic Statements which either forbid totally or recommend against receiving the COVID-19 Vaccine. Confirmation that it is not only your right to not be subject to the COVID Vaccine, but also a duty as an Orthodox Christian. It is contradictory to the Orthodox Faith no matter how you look at it. It cannot be justified and may even lead to our eternal spiritual disaster.
2. List of reasons why it would not impede mission readiness, nor disrupt physical capacity to perform, if you do not receive a COVID Vaccine.
3. Complete request for military exemption, including cover letter and the above two documents. This request is based on the doctrinal mandate to abstain from any medicines which are the product of immoral production, and the religious advisory of the synods, hierarchs, elders, medical workers of the Eastern Orthodox Church against the COVID-19 vaccine.
4. Click here for another sample exemption employment letter from the Rutherford Institute (pdf).
Update 9/7/2021: We are adding three more exemption request templates below, and a checklist for those wishing to make their employers aware of their potential liability for requiring Covid Vaccines. While the manufacturers are protected from liability, companies requiring the vaccines are not. Also, several readers have sent us employer forms that appear to require a member of the clergy to sign off on the religious exemption.
Upon challenge, in each case, the employer HR representative acknowledged that they will accept the form without any clergy input. Unfortunately, many of our Orthodox clergy lack the strength of faith to assist the faithful in standing strong for Orthodoxy. If this is the case with you, then do not be troubled. Explain in your exemption request why your sincerely held Orthodox Christian belief requires you to refuse the COVID shots, and that you will be attesting to that on your own. In America, you can be a religion of “one.” You are not required to belong to an “official” church, nor are you required to abide by all the “official” tenets of the one to which you belong. Do not let the “requirement” for a clergy signature / supporting letter stop you from requesting an exemption.
Further, even in government capacities, merely requesting the exemption will prevent you from having to take a “vaccine” while the exemption is being reviewed. As you can see from the serious COVID infections occurring in highly vaccinated areas (such as Israel) the vaccines are clearly failing. Even if your request is ultimately denied, who is to say whether or not two or three months from now the vaccine requirements themselves may be a thing of the past?
Some employer forms that we have seen try to make it seem that you must be morally opposed to all vaccines in order to oppose these “vaccines.” That is a trap. Do not fall for it. Even Orthodox Christians have been intentionally conflating opposition to these shots with being “anti-vax” (not an Orthodox position). One example posted on our site: “Vaccines save lives. The smallpox vaccine caused thousands to convert to Orthodoxy thanks to St. Innocent. Preventing illness or death is what God’s grace in doctors and scientists makes possible. Would you, how can you?, negate the work of Saint physicians?”
Orthodoxy is not anti-vaccine. We are anti-“vaccines” which have made use of aborted fetal cell lines in some form during any stage of research, production, and/or testing. The Small Pox vaccines recommended by St. Innocent to native Alaskans did NOT use aborted fetal cells. Do not allow anyone to trap you into going too far in your exemption request. That could open up a line of challenge. It isn’t the concept of a vaccine or a medical treatment that poses moral problems with the COVID “vaccines” for Orthodox Christians, it is their connection to abortion.
In addition, for your own benefit, understand that before now all vaccines worked by introducing into the body a harmless piece of a particular bacteria or virus (weakened or killed) triggering an immune response. The COVID vaccines relying on mRNA technology are completely different. mRNA vaccines work by introducing a piece of mRNA that corresponds to a viral protein. Using this mRNA blueprint, cells produce the viral protein and it is hoped that an immune response will be triggered. The COVID “vaccines” are not really vaccines. They are a type of injected medical device or therapy, but nothing that previously would have been recognized as a vaccine. What are the moral and health implications of turning humans into spike protein factories? We are only just beginning to grapple with those. What we do know is that the changes at the cellular level are denounced by many Orthodox Theologians.
Finally, you may be asked if you have ever taken another vaccine or a medicine which make use of aborted fetal cell lines. In fact, you may be given a list of such drugs / vaccines and asked which you have taken. The implication is that you have already “waived away” your right to object by already being complicit in the use of aborted fetal cells. Orthodox Christians have even made this case. This is simply bullying. Even many MD’s prescribing such medicines had no idea they were connected to abortion. This connection is not a fact pharmaceutical companies are eager to disclose. If you had known, you would have avoided them. You did not know about them, but you are aware of this connection and you do not wish to participate in this sin. There is no such thing as “squatters’ rights” in sin. Now that you are aware, you will no longer participate.
Also be advised, that many of the “lists” of drugs connected to abortion can be misleading. Drugs may be off patent and so produced by multiple companies, not all of which use or have used aborted fetal cell lines. Our opponents in this debate are not fair and do not actually care about the state of your soul. Please see additional templates below.
5. Exemption Request Prepared by a Lawyer – An employee of a major corporation shared this document with us. It was prepared for him by an attorney. It is quite good. Click here for this template in word.
6. Sample Religious Exemption Request from Fr. Alexander Webster – Fr. Alexander Webster wrote a very good challenge to the pro-vaccine statement of the Orthodox Theological Society. You can find it here our own response is here. Fr. Alexander contributed this template which was forwarded to us. It is written from a ROCOR perspective, but works for any Orthodox Christian.
7. Combined Format Religious Exemption Request – A reader forwarded this template to us. It combines sections of other templates and is a quite effective. Click here to download.
8. Checklist for Employer Liability – This checklist can be used with, or in place of, a religious exemption request to make employers aware of potential liability for injuries / effects subsequent to requiring a COVID “vaccine” as a condition of employment. Click here to download.
Update 9/16/2021
9. Recent Hierarchical Letters – We have added links to two Orthodox bishops speaking out about the moral ethics of the vaccine and the vaccine mandates. Bishop Siluan the Bishop of the Metropolitante of Australia and New Zealand of the The Serbian Orthodox Church said this in part:
Orthodox Christians, for example, have a moral issue accepting vaccines that have been developed from cell lines that were obtained from tissues harvested from aborted fetuses. The issue of ethical concerns for such vaccines was raised last year by some of the major Christian jurisdictions in Australia, such as the Roman Catholic, the Anglican and Greek Orthodox Archdioceses.
Therefore, the moral concerns of Christians should be taken into consideration, as they are not simply subjective views, but derive from the fundamental positions and core beliefs of the Church.
That is why our faithful may appeal to this, our Archpastoral letter, and other statements of the Orthodox Church as to why they are unable to receive these particular vaccines.
I would also like to mention as a great concern the alarming prospects of the introduction of Vaccine Passports. I believe that this will lead to a two-tiered society, it will divide people, families, and friends and will provide a basis for acts of discrimination and ostracization.
The entire letter can be read here.
Bishop George of Canberra Auxiliary Bishop Australia-New Zealand Diocese Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia said this in part:
There are some Orthodox hierarchs who condone taking the vaccines, even though they contain fetal cells, or are derived from fetal cells, thereby being a direct product of abortion. In good conscience, as an Orthodox Christian, I cannot agree with this view and cannot condone it.
The entire letter can be read here. Bishop George also denounced the concept of vaccine passports. The bishop states that the essential message of the Gospel is free will and strongly condemns vaccine passports. He flatly states that the Church will not enforce such a measure, and will remain open to all. Complete letter can be read here.
Update 10/14/2021 – We are adding two new sections with alternate / supplemental considerations for religious exemptions outside of the moral objection to aborted fetal cells. See them below.
10. Obedience to Orthodox Spiritual Fathers who Warned About the “Vaccines” – The Reverend Deacon John Grigaitis, Patriarchal Parishes of Russian Orthodox Church in Canada wrote the following in a letter supporting religious exemptions for Orthodox Christians (emphasis added):
It is the consensus of the Church Fathers that forms the teachings and practices of the Orthodox Church, as demonstrated in the Apostolic Canons, the Seven Ecumenical Councils, the Nine Provincial Councils, and other traditions and rules of the Orthodox Church. Contemporary Church Fathers, such as Saint Paisios of Mount Athas (t1994), Elder Justin Parvu of Romania (t2013), and Elder Savvas Achilleos of Athens (t2016) specifically warned the faithful not to receive a future “vaccination.” Other Church Fathers, such Metropolitan Augustinos Kantiotes of Florina (t2010), gave supporting information confirming this. Disciples of these contemporary Fathers who have not yet reposed confirm that these warnings are in regards to the new vaccinations for Covid.
As a personal note, I was introduced to the wisdom of Saint Paisios of Mount Athas by one of Saint Paisios’ disciples, Schema-Hierodeacon Theophanes (Constantine). After more than 30 years on Mount Athas, he returned to Edmonton for two years before he reposed. As such, I have a personal obligation to confirm and disseminate Saint Paisios’ teachings on this issue, which can be found in Spiritual Counsels of Saint Paisios, Volume II: Spiritual Awakening.
Those following the consensus of the Church Fathers and would, therefore, qualify for a religious exemption from the Covid and future vaccinations would included all members of the Orthodox Church, catechumens in the process of being received into the Orthodox Church, and inquirers who have yet to make the decision to become catechumens.
A copy of the letter in PDF can be view here. As an Orthodox Christian (or anyone at any point in the process of converting), you have an obligation to follow our Church Fathers and our beloved saints. Their warnings about this vaccine are binding on our conscience as Orthodox Christians. If you do use this argument along with Free Will / Personal Conscience, then be sure to emphasize the distinction between surrendering your will to God and to a mandate of men.
Update 11/23/2021 – Reverend Deacon John Grigaitis put out an even more strongly worded letter which you can find in PDF here. Information in this new letter has been used by multiple nurses and other medical personnel as part of their case for religious exemptions. The letter includes this incredible prophecy by St. Paisos:
The words of Saint Paisios of Mount Athas (1924-1994) regarding our current situation are recorded in Volume II: Spiritual Awakening of the five volume set Saint Paisios of Mount Athas Spiritual Counsels. Prophesying in the present tense, his words were first publish in 1999: “And now a vaccine has been developed to combat a new disease, which will be obligatory and those taking it will be marked… My thinking tells me that this is the system through which the Antichrist has chosen to take over the whole world, and people who are not part of this system won’t be able to find work and so on, – whether black or white or red; in other words, everyone he will take over through an economic system that controls the global economy, and only those who have accepted the seal, the mark of the number 666, will be able to participate in business dealings.”
The HR Departments have gotten somewhat ready for aborted fetal cells as an argument, but a Mark of the Best prophecy seems to have caught them off guard. The resources using this prophecy and the association of eternal damnation have been successful so far. No challenges at all in fact.
Further, the new PDF includes the following about the demonic nature of the vaccines:
During recent encounters between holy men and demons, the demons have revealed that the use of fetal cell lines from procured abortion is foundational to how the demons enter those who receive these vaccines.
Given the outright hatred levied against those who do not wish to take these jabs, it is easy to understand that the ultimate forces behind the mandates are demons.
We have updated the HR Questions page to include complete answers that are largely taken from the resources on this page. We recommend reading them.
11. God-given Free Will and Personal Conscience – As many are aware, the Roman Catholic Church in the office of the Pope has provided a great deal of support for the COVID vaccines. However, this support is not absolute, as a key U.S. bishop, Archbishop for the Military Services Timothy P. Broglio, endorsed personal conscience (emphasis added):
Catholic U.S. troops should be allowed to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine based solely on conscientious objection and regardless of whether abortion-related tissue was used in its creation or testing, the archbishop for the military declared in a new statement supporting service members who are seeking religious exemptions.
“No one should be forced to receive a COVID-19 vaccine if it would violate the sanctity of his or her conscience,” said Archbishop for the Military Services Timothy P. Broglio, in a statement released Tuesday.
Human free will as gifted by God is paramount. Force violates your most basic rights in the image and likeness of God. You have a right to resist forced vaccination whether aborted fetal cells are involved or not. This same argument was put forward from an Orthodox perspective in this article – COVID Vaccine Mandates: Is Elpidophoros on the Wrong Side of Patristic Tradition?
There is no religious test!
Attorney Robert Barnes has stated that there’s no need to attest to the nature or sincerity of religious belief at all. You simply request religious accommodation based on your religious beliefs. Barnes claims there is ample case law to back this up.
I can’t verify if this is true, but it makes sense. Any employer, school, or government agency is required by law to grant reasonable accommodations based on religious beliefs, regardless of the subjective nature of the beliefs or their sincerity. They’re not subject to discussion or adjudication, either in an HR office or a courtroom.
I seems that once you’ve opened the door to discussion or answering questions, you’ve yielded ground and subjected yourself to a religious test – a game that’s already fixed.
This is untenable for the Orthodox Christian. How could one explain the mystagogical phronema of the Church to an HR functionary or school administrator; or anyone for that matter? You don’t want to put anyone, including yourself in that position.
Lawyer Jeff Childers gives excellent general information on religious exemptions.
Jeff Childers’ website is:
https://www.coffeeandcovid.com
Here is a sample:
“Let me be clear about something. There’s no such thing as a “religious exemption REQUEST.” You don’t have to REQUEST it. It’s the LAW. They have to accommodate your religious or moral beliefs. It’s the employer’s burden, not yours. All you have to do is NOTIFY THEM of your sincerely-held religious or moral beliefs. Stop thinking you have to beg for it.” From his October 11, 2021 email/post.
When writing to or talking with your employer (from his September 8, 2021 email/post”):
“— Do NOT try to be an armchair theologian. It is enough if you prayed about it and determined that God doesn’t want you to take the safe and effective vaccines. You don’t have to prove your encyclopedic biblical knowledge.”
“— Don’t engage in theological debates with anyone. Agree to disagree. THEIR beliefs are irrelevant. It’s YOUR beliefs that matter.”
I follow Jeff and receive his daily emails, which are very informative. He notes one should attend church, bible study, tithe, etc. While I agree, those things and proof of are NOT required to get a religious exemption. You can deem its between you and God without mentioning any specific church. Even atheists can get religious exemptions. Lord have mercy on all of us going through this, it’s stressful.
Maybe this blog should be called “Covid Reflections by an Orthodox Christian” since there really isn’t any reflections on the Fathers, the Scriptures, Tradition, prayer or the Church, only covid. I mean the information is useful, but the title of the blog is misleading.
We do seem to be in something of a rut, right along with the rest of society, unfortunately. If you look at the subtitle of the site, “Looking at Life in the Orthodox Christian Faith,” it should be obvious that we are not the same as many other Orthodox blogs whose purpose is to look at Church history or dogma or explore the writings of the Fathers for academic purposes. The goal from the beginning was to look at Orthodox Christian life in the contemporary world. Since we are Orthodox, that means we are attempting to live our faith which is grounded in scriptures, Church history, the teachings of the fathers, etc. That is present in almost everything published, with maybe one or two exceptions that are meant to be secular for a wider audience.
We have a wide, wide range of topics we would prefer to be covering. Inflation for one, as it is immoral theft, usury, the current dialogue with the RC, opportunities for domestic evangelism in the U.S. and Canada, the list is endless because Orthodoxy is endless. Our Faith informs how we view everything around us. Right now, unfortunately, not the virus so much as the government / media / pharma partnership is having a massive impact on our lives and taking up a lot of time / space.
By the way, we take submissions so if you have a topic and have written a piece, by all means send it to us.
I, for one, am very grateful for all the information on COVID. I’m writing my exemption letter and this site is most useful. God bless you!
“St Basil urges that “Whatever requires an undue amount of thought or trouble or involves a large expenditure of effort and causes our whole life to revolve, as it were, around solicitude for the flesh must be avoided by Christians.” My own take on this is that what we focus on is what takes over our mind and heart. Is that covid or is that Christ? I was reading an article, an interview attempting to defend the National Council of Churches drift to the left and
its involvement in all these left wing political causes. “”AFAJ: In the theology of the NCC, what allows for such an apparent conflict between its stated mission and actual practice?
AW: The NCC tends to go on the assumption that the most important thing about the Christian faith is transforming society, rather than telling the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Regarding society, they tend to think that the bottom line is politics. The way to change society is advocating for government action.” Let us not fall into the same error. Historically it is the blood of the martyrs and the prayers of the Church which are the real power for transforming society. I just think it is important to keep this in mind.
A church friend used these lawyers to assist in get a religious exemption at their place of employment. “Pacific Justice Institute.. they represent Christians/ Christian Rights for free”.
Perhaps they can help.
Fed government HE is now asking these questions after I submitted a letter of exception:
1. Please describe the nature of your objection to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement.
2. Would complying with the COVID-19 vaccination requirement substantially burden your religious exercise? If so, please explain how.
3. How long have you held the religious belief underlying your objection?
4. Please describe whether, as an adult, you have received any vaccines against any other diseases (such as a flu vaccine or a tetanus vaccine) and, if so, what vaccine you most recently received and when, to the best of your recollection
.
5. If you do not have a religious objection to the use of all vaccines, please explain why your objection is limited to particular vaccines
.
6. If there are any other medicines or products that you do not use because of the religious belief underlying your objection, please identify them.
7. Please provide any additional information that you think may be helpful in reviewing your request.
Hi Joan. I work for a Federal contractor and on permanent teleworking, still required to get the vax unless something new happens this week in my company. My company is in final stages of negotiations with the Fed agency. We have a religious exemption form we need to fill out and it has most of your questions there. Did you have success? Has anyone helped you answer? I’m going to reach out to a clergymen who I think might help me. Lord have mercy. God help all of us.
Hi Alexandria, read “ Be Careful Answering HR Questions About Your COVID Vaccine Religious Exemption” from Nicholas that was posted yesterday.
Joan, Thank you. I need to compare that with my form. What was your original reason for the exemption that made HR question you?
My company has a “committee” who determines approval of exemptions, that includes HR, an attorney and Health Safety. The policy also stares HR will have a meeting with employee and their manager to discuss. I heard from a coworker that they are inundated with requests for exemptions.
Also, in addition to the questions- I also submitted a letter from Father Webster. It is listed on this subject. I haven’t heard anything because they need a week to evaluate. I work from home as well.
Hi Joan, I am just now trying to answer these 7 questions you posted. I am a federal working, Christian, already had Covid, tested positive for the anti-bodies and work full-time telework. Did you answers the questions? If you don’t mind sharing it would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you Diane
The article briefly mentions “mRNA technologies involve an alteration of Human Substance/Ontology at the cellular level”. I would like further clarification on this statement and how that could be used to present moral objection. I have been trying to learn about how the mRNA is made and based on my understanding, it is a designed genetic material, or a genetically modified substance. I would like to hear the OR position on this and if this is what the article is referring to or if this would also be another reason to morally object to the vaccines and request exemption. Thank you all so much, your work means alot to me. I pray Our Lord may protect, guide, and bless you always.
I would also like to know this. I am working on my letter and could really use this additional help. I work for the Federal Government and am under the mandate.

I received you reply to my post:
“OR Staff says:
September 15, 2021 at 4:48 pm
We also just published, inspired by your request, a whole list of additional resources.”
However, I’m not sure where these “additional resources” are located?
There was also no way to reply directly to that post (not that I saw anyway). I had to start a new thread.
Thanks for all you have done so far. I have already composed a long email to many of my coworkers sharing the information that this site and it’s posters have provided.
Here it is:

We are going to pin it to the top of the homepage for awhile at orthodoxreflections.com
Excellent, thanks again…

Thanks again; you are a great resource. Please keep them coming.
When I try to access this link it tells me it is forbidden. Any idea why?
Sorry, I couldn’t get it on my phone at work, but it works on my home computer. Please keep it all coming.
I tried to learn more about the effects of the mRNA in this vaccine. When I looked it up, I found all the articles stating that it does not go into the cell or effect your DNA. What are the facts, and where can I find information that supports the idea that it causes changes on a cellular level?
If we had to start someplace, we would start with this video by Dr. Ryan Cole which describes the impact of the spike protein associated with the mRNA vaccines:
https://americasfrontlinedoctors.org/videos/summit-sessions-the-science-ryan-cole-md-covid-19-vaccines-autopsy/
You should then watch this one which specifically talks about how repeated boosters will harm your capillary and circulatory system:
https://noqreport.com/2021/08/20/shocking-new-study-reveals-covid-vaccines-do-permanent-damage-to-62-of-recipients/
This absolutely terrifying…
Thank you so much for this, I will share this as much as I can.
Jim,
Additional material:
A summary of what can already be known at this stage (and thus can also be known, at this stage, by anyone in a position of authority in the Church or any affiliated entity who tries to persuade, or outright pressure, others to get vaccinated) is here in this new (September 13) Notice of Liability sent by doctors and scientists to the European Medicines Agency and the members of the European Parliament:
https://doctors4covidethics.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Letter-and-Notice-of-Liability-to-EMA-and-MEPs.pdf
Earlier letters by the same group are listed here:

Specifically concerning the vaccination of children, here a group of Irish doctors (a short video, around seven minutes)
https://childrenshealthdefense.eu/children-health/c19-child-vaccinations-irish-doctors-speak-out-while-uk-incentivises-doctors-to-put-kids-in-harms-way/
Plenty of important information also here in this long interview:
https://odysee.com/@voicesforfreedom:6/Dr-Peter-McCullough:b
(discussion of the vaccination starts around min 37)
Thank you for the additional information. Everything I get I am sharing with my peers at work; we are all under a vaccine mandate. Please keep these videos and articles coming…
We also just published, inspired by your request, a whole list of additional resources.
My family and I contracted and recovered from the virus, thank God! We now have natural immunity which is arguably more effective than the vaccines, something that is often dismissed by many within the medical community in favour of sweeping vaccine mandates, passports, and certificates.
Besides that, science is still leaning about this man-made virus. They still don’t know everything about a virus, the mortality rate for which hovers around 1-2%, if not lower. Yet, they created a vaccine in record time for a virus they’re still learning about. What they’re also still learning about are the long-term effects of the vaccines themselves. When they were pushed on humanity just a mere six months ago, vaccines were touted as the answer to ending the pandemic. But, they didn’t know then what they do know now, and that is the vaccines’ effectiveness wanes considerably within six months time, requiring yet another shot. If they didn’t know this would happen within a few short months, how much more do they not know about the vaccines’ long term effects? Therein lies but one of many questions about this whole sordid mess.
[…] Orthodox Reflections […]
No. Making the point that hierarchy are not one in agreement concerning this man made virus.
Gotcha, if our hierarchs acted like the true Church, this would not be an issue. We do have hierarchs who are faithful. We should be thankful for them.
“One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church”. Umm! If that was so we wouldn’t have this problem!
Are you making the case that the Orthodox Church is not the “One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church?”
It’s not my HR department, the attorneys, ES&H and board will determine any exemptions, whether religious or Medical AND will have a form for us to fill out. I truly wish I could retire!
It’s a very sad state when our “hierarch” do not support life. Let that sink in.
Which hierarch(s?) do not support life? Why is “hierarch” in quotes?
We are truly sorry for what you are going through Alexandra. When you fill out the form, there is a great chance that you will not be able to comply with clergy letter, if one is asked for. We have started trying to recruit clergy to help in these cases, but have not gotten commitments so far. Keep in mind that under precedent in the United States, you do not have to belong to an organized religion to be ‘”religious”. As we have quoted Harvard,
So you can have a personal religion, which would make it difficult to provide a letter, but which is completely valid in our legal system. You can be a religion of one, and still be a religion. That is weird for us as Orthodox Christians, but that is just the facts here in the U.S. You can also have a differing interpretation of your religion, which is equally valid under precedent in the United States. So you can put together a case that you follow various Orthodox priests, monks, and bishops who are not local and with whom you don’t have a personal relationship. The Orthodox clergy share and inform your opposition to the vaccines. You have a deeply held, sincere, religious belief that these vaccines are wrong, and you can document that it is shared by clergy in Orthodoxy. It is irrelevant if it is shared by all, because it is your belief at issue.
You could pull together statements such as:https://orthochristian.com/138725.html
And Father Peter Heers:
https://orthodoxethos.com/post/religious-exemption-resources-and-collections
He has a good video linked at that site that has great quotes. It is perfectly legal to follow non local religious “gurus” and not even uncommon. Especially in the age of “streaming.” Good luck and God bless you.
Thank you!
I hope this finds you and yours well.
Below is a compilation of different “exemption” options put together from one of the FEW, living Patristic Fathers-Fr. Peter Heers He’s been a source of clarity, “following the Fathers” with the “mind of the Church” amidst the confusion and misleading guidance permeating Orthodoxy today like the caesaropapism of the current wannabe Orthodox pope- Bartholomew and his fellow schismatics concelebrating Liturgies with heretics and deposed clergy.
I don’t know if any of this will help in decision making for your readers but, God-willing, it may offer some alternatives for all.
May His Will be done. Doxa to Theo, John
RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION COLLECTIONS AND RESOURCES
Compiled by Orthodox Ethos

Dearest to Christ,
Many Orthodox Christians have contacted us seeking resources for exemption from mandatory masks, vaccination, and testing against Covid-19 in various settings (i.e., workforce, school, and military). Below, we have compiled various resources we believe are helpful. Each has its own particular strength; find the documents best suited to your situation. Maybe multiple documents and resources from below will best serve you. We will continue to pray that the Lord protect and guide you from the current craftily-designed demonic temptation to defile your souls and bodies in the pursuit of some supposed humanitarian good. If you have trouble accessing or downloading the resources below, please contact us.
In Christ,
Fr. Peter Heers and the Orthodox Ethos team
RESOURCES
1. Herein, may be one of the most important documents for an Orthodox Christian in this post. This is a thorough collection of both hierarchical and spiritual leaders stating the position that an Orthodox Christian should not receive the vaccine. It argues the Orthodox position from many supporting points, both spiritual and medical, with links to its sources. Vaccine Exemption: Orthodox Christian Religious – Practical Supporting Documents.pdf
2. Herein, you will find an “air tight religious exemption request” template if it is mandated at school, job, or in the military. Additionally, there are “practical” templates available that explain why the vaccine is not necessary from a medical standpoint. This is one of the best resources available online in collecting exemption forms that are already pre-made for you. We all owe “Kaleb of Atlanta” a great debt of gratitude for these. https://news.gab.com/2021/07/29/important-download-covid-vaccine-religious-exemption-documents-here/
3. Herein, you will find exemption templates for school, work, and military that argue from a legal basis. Disclaimer: This might not be able to be used once the vaccines have acquired FDA Approval. However, see the first bullet point in the “Additional resources supporting exemptions” section down below. Vaccines & The Law – America’s Frontline Doctors (americasfrontlinedoctors.org)
4. Herein, are three legal exemption templates from masks, testing and the vaccines. Usable for work or school. Note: All three are based on the basis that these products are not FDA approved and thus mandating is illegal. However, see the first bullet point in the “Additional resources supporting exemptions” section down below. Federal Law Prohibits Mandates of Emergency Use COVID Vaccines, Tests, Masks — 3 Resources You Can Use to Inform Your School or Employer • Children’s Health Defense (childrenshealthdefense.org)
5. Herein, is a letter a parent can fill and give to the school mandating the vaccine for their child which argues from a legal and medical basis. 2021-5_To Universities RE COVID Mandate from RFK Jr-LB (1).docx (childrenshealthdefense.org). See also: 2021-06_GENERIC Mandate letter.docx (childrenshealthdefense.org). Many resources are available on this site, especially for children (see below).
6. Herein, you will find a strong scientifically based template parents can write to schools mandating their children to wear masks. Rational Ground – Clear Reasoning on National Policy for COVID-19 » Letter to the School Board
7. Herein, you will find a list of schools that allow for various exemptions (religious or legal) and details how to access such exemption documentation. Disclaimer: The list of schools posted was last updated June 23, 2021 and the website does not guarantee accuracy of information. Additionally, on the website’s top right corner is a drop-down menu; select the “Covid-19” tab for more legal and medical resources helpful for exemptions. Finally, if interested in legal assistance for exemptions, you can contact ICAN via email or phone call at: info@icandecide.org or 512-522-8739. COVID-19 Vaccine Exemptions | ICAN – Informed Consent Action Network (icandecide.org)
8. Herein, a legal team is offering assistance to anyone seeking exemptions. WeThePatriots has been successful already (see website news). Additionally, they provide various resources for Military Religious Exemptions. See We the Patriots USA. See also Military Religious Accommodations – We the Patriots USA.
9. Herein, at the bottom of the page with a light grey box as a background is an exemption template for a working individual to hand to their boss. The strength of this template is stating one’s basic medical rights. Whoever uses this can copy and paste this in a document and adjust the wording according to their own needs, such as the greeting and closing. Fight Back: Here’s How People Are Legally Resisting Dystopian Diktats to Get a Covid Shot or Be Fired – PJ Media See also Exemption Template #1 (below).
10. Herein, you will find a few Legal Notices and Affidavits against Mandatory Vaccinations and Face Masks you can present at work or school. The website also has various documents on information regarding the dangers of masks and vaccines (see especially the “Informed Consent Matter” under “Testimonies and Reports…” which documents MANY specific adverse reactions you can hand to your school or employer substantiating your beliefs): Resources – Constitutional Law Group
11. Herein, you will find “Acceptance of Responsibility” documents which “is to make the doctor or other vaccine promoting individual aware that you are aware of the dangers of vaccination and that you insist that the promoters accept the responsibility that they so easily expect you to bear.” This may be best handled by submitting the paperwork for their review then rescheduling the conversation (since the goal is to avoid an appointment with the vaccine distributor anyway). The strongest document here is the “Physician’s Warranty for Vaccine Safety” Vaccination Liberation Information (vaclib.org)
12. Herein, you will find an article that explains exactly how much legal ground (and it is significant) is actually held by those who feel employers are asking employees to violate their religious convictions. For Covid Vaccine Religious Exemptions – Your Sincerely Held Beliefs Are What Matter – Orthodox Reflections. In another article, they share the resources found in the above Resource #2 with a good explanation for each, along with a sample Exemption Letter from the Rutherford Institute (bottom of post): The Air Tight Religious Exemption Request for Covid Vaccines – Orthodox Reflections
More Exemption Documents:
1. Exemption Template 1: This is an excellent starting document for beginning an amiable conversation with one’s boss or employer. It pushes back against a mandate from a position of strength. With this document, you are not appearing to threaten legal action but rather to express your very serious concern, in writing, how uncomfortable you are with the employer’s decision. Download here.
2. Exemption Template 2: Makes the legal arguments why experimental medical products cannot be mandated. This is a strong legal document when these shots do not have FDA approval. Again, even in the event of FDA approval, you can cite the 2005 Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights which protects your right to choose (see 3.a above). Download here.
3. Orthodox Ethos Religious Exemption: This takes a complete apologetic supporting an Orthodox Christian refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine which takes into account the presuppositions which differentiate a Western understanding of “religious exemptions” from an Orthodox approach to the issue (primarily when an Orthodox Christian might be asked for “the head of your religious body to make a statement”). As Orthodox Christians, we do not have a Pope, nor a Caliph, nor a Dali Lama. Our head is the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, a carefully constructed religious exemption has been crafted to present an Orthodox opposition to a mandated vaccine. NOTE: the “NOW, THEREFORE” section needs to be personalized. NOTE: there are instructions to notarize the document at the end. Download here.
SPIRITUAL CONCERNS
It is an admitted fact that the current shots use ingredients or use, in the process of their production, fetal “therapy” which comes from the harvesting of embryos by that satanic process of abortion. See the above religious exemption resources, especially “Vaccine Exemption: Orthodox Christian Religious – Practical Supporting Documents.pdf.”
The evil of this should not be underestimated. The Holy Fathers have an axiom that “you cannot do a good thing in a bad way.” See https://orthodoxethos.com/post/good-is-not-good-if-not-done-in-a-good-way
We also have this testimony from the life of St. John the Theologian (from the Synaxarion): “The following was recorded by St. Prochorus, one of the seven Deacons, concerning the holy apostle and Evangelist, the beloved John the Theologian. . . . In the bath-house there was diabolical activity at work. When it was first being built, Satan incited these deluded idolaters to bury in the foundation, under the stones, either a fifteen or sixteen-year old youth or maiden, that it might go well in the bath-house. With this bloodthirsty murder of an innocent child, Satan began to dwell therein with demons.”
Whether it is a bathhouse or a medical product, we should know from our Tradition that if it is founded or built upon the murder of innocent children, then it becomes the dwelling place of demons! This was even confessed to Geronda Evthymios on Athos during a recent exorcism.
In St. Nikolai Velimirovich’s Prologue, we read the life of St. Constantine the Great and find another relevant spiritual example of this evil. St. Nikolai narrates: “Constantine fell ill with the dreaded disease of leprosy. As a cure, the pagan priests and physicians counseled him to bathe in the blood of slaughtered children. However, he rejected that. Then the Apostles Peter and Paul appeared to him and told him to seek out Bishop Sylvester, who would cure him of this dreaded disease. The bishop instructed him in the Christian Faith and baptized him, and the disease of leprosy vanished from the emperor’s body.” For Orthodox Christians, it should be enough to have faith that the Church heals diseases of both body and soul. That the slaughter of children is unnecessary, yet the evil is promoted anyway, should now become a cause of very great repentance for us.
Our saints of past days have been warning us of the deception of these times in healthcare. You may find some in the supporting documents listed in the resources above. In addition to those, notice some more compiled over the previous months from OrthodoxEthos.com. Of significance is the recent Fr. Peter podcast Why I Will Not Be Inoculated with the Experimental Drug Solution. In addition to these are many more testimonies. Geronda Athanasios Mitilinaios taught “In the martyrdom of the last days, there will be a manipulation of the soul, and the methods used will be most satanic. Why? Because they will inject chemical substances inside of you (vaccines). That will paralyze your nous, your volition, your freedom, It will alter your sense of personal feeling, and detract (misdirect) your nous. These things have been tested and are widely known!”
Additional resources supporting exemptions:
• When the vaccines become FDA approved (we should realize this process is so corrupt that this is a foregone conclusion), the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights (UNESCO 2005) protects your right to express consent or dissent to any medical product/intervention based on personal autonomy and the free choice to consent or not, and in the event that you refuse to consent you cannot be discriminated against. The Declaration states: “The autonomy of persons to make decisions, while taking responsibility for those decisions and respecting the autonomy of others, is to be respected. For persons who are not capable of exercising autonomy, special measures are to be taken to protect their rights and interests”, and, “Any preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical intervention is only to be carried out with the prior, free and informed consent of the person concerned, based on adequate information. The consent should, where appropriate, be expressed and may be withdrawn by the person concerned at any time and for any reason without disadvantage or prejudice.” See Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights: UNESCO.

Bottom line: it is time to stop complicating things; no one needs a theologian to figure this out. Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, designed, created, and maintained by things God provides in the creation. All vaccines, contain harmful ingredients (according to the makers) made by man (not God), and therefore it is a sin to put then into your body. God made the human body and gave everything it needs in the creation; man did not make the body and he should not be putting things into it that are contrary to its nature. You body is not your own (st Paul), it belongs to God, and you should not be abusing it in any way with over eating, doing drugs,or taking harmful vaccines. Not to mention the things in the post that all vaccines use human tissue to make or test. This should be a slam dunk, denial of vaccines for more than one reason is common sense; yet we have muddied the issues because some bishops channel the anti-Christ spirit of the state instead of the fathers. In essence the Church has given her sovereignty over to the state; how is that going to work out?
Vaccines save lives. The smallpox vaccine caused thousands to convert to Orthodoxy thanks to St. Innocent. Preventing illness or death is what God’s grace in doctors and scientists makes possible. Would you, how can you?, negate the work of Saint physicians?
The mRNA technologies are not the same as the smallpox vaccine, which is a couple of hundred years old. You are mixing unlike topics. As you can see in multiple articles, like this one, no one here is anti-vaccine. Questioning novel mRNA tech that is only 13 months into a planned 3 year clinical trial is not the same as questioning all vaccines. Plus, for Covid we have therapeutics and preventions that negate the need for EUA being granted to untested tech which appears to not even work particularly well.
https://orthodoxreflections.com/orthodox-christianity-and-vaccine-informed-consent/
Sophia,
You write:
“The smallpox vaccine caused thousands to convert to Orthodoxy thanks to St. Innocent.”
Let’s hope that the current “vaccination” rollout does not undo that!
https://www.bitchute.com/video/VLjIX18XrrhO/
Our Heavenly Father and Creator is all-merciful, all-compassionate, and all-loving. He would not inspire by conspiring against Himself or His children, however. There is nothing divinely inspirational about a vaccine that comes with mandates and passports that serve to segregate and stigmatize people who are exercising their God given right to free will. There is nothing graceful about a vaccine that diminishes in effectiveness within a few short months of being administered. A vaccine that doesn’t reopen God’s churches to full capacity or restore the sacrament of sacraments to its rightful and reverent place within the Divine Liturgy cannot be graced by God. It’s presumptuous to believe He would save us from death through this vaccine when glorified saints and martyrs of our Church have died of sword and sickness in His name.
No, this is a man-made vaccine for a man-made virus. May God have mercy on us all.
My dear you need to do some primary source reading on the smallpox vaccine. Which harmed many, has been opposed since its invention, and could not possibly have been responsible for the decline of smallpox since it was such and non uniformly produced and contaminated inoculation. We cannot have blind faith in medical invention. Especially not a witches brew made from the collected pus( not even confirmed smallpox or cowpox) of infected cow shaken in a solution and injected. From primary sources there are medical medical books outlining the severe diseases caused by the smallpox vaccine as well as many children who died. These parents seeing the destruction and damages from the mandated smallpox fought back and ended mandates int their time.
It is critical that this program (https://youtu.be/upZ0yG_gsFE)
be listened to with a mindset intent on learning about and understanding ethical considerations and the facts surrounding the creation of the COVID-19 vaccine from an Orthodox Medical Doctor who refutes many of the claims made here by an anonymous group:
We published your link, and we will listen to the podcast. But as you can notice, we have Orthodox MDs and medical researchers who post here on this site. So if they are refuting is, then we have grave doubts about the program that match the doubts we already had about AFR.
Thank you for listening.
Did you listen? At no point did your doctor actually defend why we need a vaccine for every single age group? Your doctor also simple dismissed all the harms and defended the timeframe of approving the vaccine even though we are talking new mRNA tech. There was so much misinformation your doctor spouted, that we will do our own article on it.
In that podcast, they talk about “bioethics”.
In a recent interview, Vera Sharav gave a definition of “bioethics”:
‘They used to call it “eugenics”. Now, they call it “bioethics”.’
As for Ancient Faith Radio: It was valuable as a platform for Father Thomas Hopko; it still is so for Father Stephen Freeman’s blog. Apart from that, it has mostly an ever increasing evangelical-fundamentalist touch. In an business environment, one might speak of a hostile takeover.
This is a few weeks old and not specifically focusing on the vaccinations, but anyways, an interesting contrast.
Starting at 1:02:40 here, there is an interview with Pastor Dr. John Mosepele from South Africa:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bFB2AA28_q4
Compare that man to Fr. John Parker and Dr. Ryan Sampson Nash in that AFR-podcast.
I listened to what WAS there, not to what I might have thought needed to be there as you did. This thread didn’t approach the topic of vaccines needed for particular age groups, yet you bring it up in your response to my comment about an interview that illumines people about the considerations the medical world must deal with when it comes to the creation and prescription of any preventive medicine, supplement, or treatment. Who and where are your MDs? “My” doctor, who is not by the way, MY doctor, uses his name and puts his face before me on an Internet-accessible video, not like your anonymous team which cowers in anonymity due to “the world we live in,” a totally alien reality to Orthodoxy. I have been and continue to wait for your article addressing misinformation in the interview. I will also address the morality of using a byproduct of an ancient tissue culture to save lives in the days to come.
I misplaced my reply to the above below Manfred Meyer’s comment. I apologize.
@ Manfred, your comments on AFR are spot on. It’s sad to say, but AFR has simply become the punchline to a joke.
Sophie,
Who can we trust for unbiased, trustworthy, valuable, sound information?
A. Someone who is paid by The Ohio STATE University’s College of Medicine?
https://medicine.osu.edu/departments/bioethics/our-people
B. Or maybe someone else from Ohio?
https://www.ohiostandsup.org/
A medical doctor or anonymous people whose qualifications are unknown? I’d trust the first.
And we trust data. Science is not a game of follow the leader. But here is an article submitted by a researcher:
https://orthodoxreflections.com/the-real-efficacy-of-covid-19-vaccines-a-medical-researcher-debunks-the-claims/
And an MD:
https://orthodoxreflections.com/an-orthodox-md-tries-to-work-out-the-biothecial-kinks-of-the-covid-19-vaccine/
Both of those give full names and credentials. Every article concerning any health topic is always fully researched and documented, regardless of who wrote it, or we will not run it. Facts matter, and many experts have proven to be oblivious to them.
Anonymous people whose qualifications are unknown?
Here is the “Ohio Stands Up” video resource library:
https://www.ohiostandsup.org/videos
Dr. Sherry Tenpenny, Dr. Simone Gold, Dr. Ryan Cole, Dr. Peter McCullough
LOL….most MD’s are in debt up to their eyeballs. They are simply going along with the narratives of the cartel that pays their enormous salaries. Also, why are you simply choosing to ignore the Stanford MD’s (and numerous others) who have spoken publicly against the vaccines. It’s a totally false narrative that you keep repeating by claiming that it’s your Dr against some anonymous guys. Absolutely untrue.
We have a whole page where we quote multiple doctors who disagree with Dr. Nash.
https://orthodoxreflections.com/true-health-impacts-of-covid-vaccines-multiple-resources/
Plus we published as a direct response to Dr. Nash from a doctor who signed her post. This is also kind of a “rich” complaint since AFR tends to turn off comments, whereas our “anonymous” blog never does.
https://orthodoxreflections.com/the-aborted-bioethics-of-ancient-faith-radios-fr-john-parker-dr-ryan-sampson-nash/
I would also like to address the misinformation related to eugenics and bioethics. A “bioethicist assists the health care and research community in examining moral issues involved in our understanding of life and death, and resolving ethical dilemmas in medicine and science.” Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioethics
The 4 main principles of bioethics are:
The 4 main ethical principles, that is beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice with “nonmaleficence’ having twice the weight of the other principles.
Eugenics on the other hand is defined as “the study of how to arrange reproduction within a human population to increase the occurrence of heritable characteristics regarded as desirable. Developed largely by Sir Francis Galton as a method of improving the human race, eugenics was increasingly discredited as unscientific and racially biased during the 20th century, especially after the adoption of its doctrines by the Nazis in order to justify their treatment of Jews, disabled people, and other minority groups.” (Definition from Oxford Languages on the Internet)
No comparison.
If you would like to engage with objections to many things Dr. Nash ignored or glossed over, then the place to go is here

We are working on a specific response to Dr Nash but there is a lot going on in the world and only so much time.

John,
1. “Mount Athos speaks” – Is that so? Is that Elder commissioned to speak for the whole of Mount Athos?
2. Even if it were Mount Athos in its entirety that speaks – why should we care? They cannot claim any deeper insight into the matter than any of us.
This: “Elderly Julian … revealed …” in that video is simply presumptuous. He did not “reveal” anything. He stated his opinion.
3. His claim that: “To accept the [vaccination] is a disavowal of Christ”, is way over the top. He is in no position to make such a sweeping assessment. There are people who have undergone those vaccinations, and might do so again in the future, because they are constrained to do so. To claim that those people “disavow” Christ is haughtiness, it is outrageous and spiritual abuse, and the “editor’s note” at the end of the video is no remedy for that.
4. Mount Athos closed for visitors and, after reopening, still required negative tests; so: Mount Athos has been playing along with the panic narrative which led to the “vaccination” rollout. It has foregone all credibility, any claim to be taken serious for any advice in the current political situation.
Of course, he does not speak for all of MA. Overall the Mount is in disarray. At the same time, some folk put a lot of weight on anything that comes out of Athos; some actually believe some times there is a voice on the “Holy Mount” that can express God’s thought on a matter. I actually think (my observation) this voice is a prophetic word and surpasses opinion.
If we cannot find anyone who can speak God’s thought on a matter, then as the Church we are doomed to drift among all the opinions.
In times past, the Mount was a place from which the voice of God could surpass all the morass of confusion in the Church. While the state of the Mount is overall deplorable, I like this and think it is worthy of note by all bishops who cannot sort their right hand from the left.
This might help to sort the right hand from the left:

Truly diabolical what is going on.
Agreed on the current state of Athos, which is sad and indicative of the wider current state of the Church as a whole.
Bartholomew ultimately is to blame for the division on Athos, this vax mess is just a symptom of that
