And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. (Revelation 2:12-13)
Feast Day: 11 April

Seeing the terrible persecution unleashed against the devout Christians, you did not fear the threats of the pagans, but boldly confessed the true God before their faces, urging them to turn from their empty idols to Christ the Savior and to sing to Him forever: Alleluia!
Ikos 2
Though you lived among the pagans who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, you preserved the righteousness of your life, Holy Antipas, and were deemed worthy to dwell with the Angels and to sing with them the thrice-holy praise of God in heaven; for this reason, hear us now, as we offer you this hymn on earth:
Rejoice, you who desired the life of the incorporeal;
Rejoice, you who were deemed worthy of the purity of the Angels;
Rejoice, you who, though you were in the flesh, had your mind set on divine things;
Rejoice, you who lived spiritually on earth as in heaven;
Rejoice, heavenly man;
Rejoice, earthly Angel;

The great storm of hatred, which Emperor Domitian unleashed to slaughter the Christians, reached even the temple of your soul, Saint Antipas, but it could not shake you, for you were firmly rooted on the solid rock of faith in Christ; remaining steadfast there, you sang to the Holy Trinity: Alleluia!
Ikos 4
Hearing your words full of wisdom, the pagan ruler and the idolatrous priests poured out their malice against you, especially when you said: “I am a Christian, and I will not obey the emperor’s insane commands.” Therefore, praising your confession, we cry out to you:
Rejoice, you who kept your faith in Jesus the Lord until death;
Rejoice, you who were strengthened from above against your tormentors;
Rejoice, you who were clothed with glory by Christ the Victor;

Ikos 5
The citizens of Pergamon marveled when they saw that you had been given the grace to heal the infirm and deliver them from all manner of bodily and spiritual pains. And we, for the many healings you bestow upon us, bless you with these songs of praise:

As a preacher of the truth and a follower of the Apostles, you did not fear the cruel tormentors, nor were you intimidated by their threats, but you boldly preached Christ God, and for His sake you were cast into the fiery furnace, so that through you the wonderful Lord might be glorified in His saints, to Whom you sang even in the fire: Alleluia!
Ikos 6
Having great zeal for the salvation of mankind, God’s creatures, you suffered for those who were mired in the darkness of idol worship, and for the salvation of the unbelievers, you were ready to lay down your life, like the great Paul. Therefore, with reverence we cry out to you:
Rejoice, follower of Patriarch Abraham in intercession for sinners;
Rejoice, one like Moses, the seer of God, in fervent prayer for the salvation of the unbelievers;
Rejoice, new Samuel, who interceded for the correction of the lawless;
Rejoice, you who resembled the archdeacon Stephen, speaking during your sufferings: “Lord, do not hold this sin against them”;
Rejoice, you who are without malice, who prayed for your murderers as for benefactors;
Rejoice, loving shepherd, who laid down your life for the speaking sheep;
Rejoice, Saint Antipas, swift healer of diseases!
Kontakion 7
When the wicked torturer sought to turn you away from the true God to soulless idols through deceitful words, you, enlightened by God, replied: “Having reached advanced old age and drawing near to death, I will not change my faith in Jesus Christ, my God, to whom I ever sing with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Alleluia!”
Ikos 7
The Lord performed a new miracle through you when, at the tyrant’s command, you were thrown into the fiery furnace of bronze and there you were baked like sweet bread and offered to the Holy Trinity as fragrant incense. Therefore, reverently praising your great patience, we bless you, saying:
Rejoice, you who, by being cast into the fiery furnace, shattered the pride of your tormentor;
Rejoice, you who kept the fire of love for God in your heart until the end of your life;
Rejoice, you who, out of love for Christ, received your end through fire;
Rejoice, you who proved yourself stronger than stone in patience;
Rejoice, you who, strengthened by God, ended your life on earth in a most glorious manner;
Rejoice, you who have joined the most radiant company of the Martyrs.
Rejoice, Saint Antipas, swift healer of diseases!

O chosen miracle-worker and good healer of afflictions, by the grace given to you by the Lord, as one who has boldness before the Giver of health, deliver us from all our needs and infirmities, that we may say to you: Rejoice, Saint Antipas, swift healer of diseases!
Prayer to Saint Antipas of Pergamum
Bishop of God, Holy Martyr of Christ, most blessed Antipas, who sits on the same throne as the Apostles and the Holy Hierarchs, you are the spiritual light of the bishops and the strength of the faith. Before those who fought against God, you boldly confessed Christ and offered yourself as a sacrifice like fragrant incense, like a lamb without blemish, and as a most righteous Martyr, cast into the fiery furnace, Holy Hierarch. Lifting up prayers of thanksgiving to God the Father, you shone like the sun, and through your patient sufferings, you defeated the cunning Belial to the very end. For this, Christ has glorified you in heaven, and on earth He has enlightened all people through the grace given to you, to heal those who suffer from the terrible pain of toothache and who ceaselessly call upon you with faith. And now, hear me, your sinful and unworthy servant, who calls upon you at this hour with faith, that you may be my intercessor and supplicant before God, that He may forgive my sins and deliver me from unbearable pain through your holy prayers. O most glorified Holy Martyr Antipas, swift helper of Christians in suffering, I believe with all my heart and mind that it has been given to you by the Lord to heal the sick, to comfort the suffering, and to strengthen the weak. For this reason, I, the helpless one, run to you as to a blessed healer of diseases, and, reverently kissing your venerable icon [and your holy relics], I pray to you to intercede with the Heavenly King on behalf of me, the sick one, that He may grant me healing and the cessation of the pains that afflict me; and though I am unworthy of your help, O good Father and my ever-faithful defender, make me worthy of your protection by turning me away from evil deeds toward a good Christian life. Heal, through the grace bestowed upon you in abundance, the wounds and infirmities of my body; grant me health and salvation and every good thing, so that, living a quiet and peaceful life in all piety and purity, I may be made worthy, together with all the Saints, to glorify the most holy name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
Prayer of one Afflicted by Toothache to the Most Glorious Martyr Antipas
O most glorious martyr Antipas, swift helper of Christians in their sufferings! I believe with all my mind and soul that you have received from God the gift of healing the sick and strengthening the weak. For this reason, I now run to you, as to a healing physician, I, the helpless one, and kissing your holy image, I pray to you through your intercession to ask the Heavenly King for healing for me, who am weakened by toothaches. Though I am unworthy of your help, Father, make me worthy of your protection, you who have likened yourself to the Lord in your love for mankind; and through my turning away from shameful deeds to a pure life, heal me completely by the grace you have earned, of all the pains and wounds of my soul and body. Grant me health of body and salvation of soul, and in all things good progress, so that, living in peace, tranquility, and godly devotion, I may be deemed worthy to glorify, together with all the saints, the most Holy Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
